The Centre for Postcolonial Education is a research centre devoted to sponsoring intellectual and change-oriented activity on the subjects of children, education, women, and civic and environmental values.
We help scholars and academics integrate their intellectual work with grassroots work. We think that what is published in books and papers can be made presentable to laypeople and children, and should be put into practice. Every faculty member of the Centre participates in a practical activity, such as teaching. Our activities at the Centre include literacy and training of adults and women to become skilled earners and learners, developing curricula and materials based on the experience of the school, occasional papers, films, seminars with invited speakers, exhibitions, and performances.
Our Centre for Children and Childhood runs parents’ workshops, teachers’ training, and regular events and programmes for children and their families in Banaras.
